Abstract

Cooperativism in the State of Bahia, in the period between the end of the 19th century and the middle of the 20th century, has its trajectory rescued through historical documents published during that time period. It´s an exploratory study that presents little-known aspects about these associative experiences in the State of Bahia and the role of government action in promoting cooperativism. The results reported in this text indicates a need to a research agenda that aims to deepen the understanding of cooperativism practices.
